Yo yo drama hair clip

Ya....familiar name. These are the yo yos left over from the yo yo drama necklace....only this time....I made a hair clip.  To duplicate, You will need 9 yo yo's (made from 2 inch circles...finished size=1 inch)...arrange and stitch them as desired into a template. With or without a backing. 1 duck bill clip...full size. A glue gun. Needle and thread if desired.

Line up the yo yos in the desired location on the clip. Use a couple of pins to hold the location thru the holes in the top of the clip. Heat up the glue gun....and apply a strip of glue on the tip half of the clip....press the yo yo template into the glue and hold till dry. Remove the pin before glue dries. Next lift the other side and repeat the process. Hot glue can lift in time, paticularly if you have oily hair or use a lot of product...so reinforce with sewing or more glue. If desired....use some needle and thread to reinforce the template into place taking care to hide stitches on front side. If you used a backing...keep the stitches on the backing and you wont have to worry about hiding the stitches on the front. You are done. Take a pic and share your work.

A hat for a bag

Remember this hat? The wandering path....started as a scarf...turns out the recipient didnt like green...so I turned it into a hat. Hat was too big. This was a test knit...then fine tuned into a more fitting pattern.

Problem...i dont like green either. So I didnt wear it... I wore it to take this picture, and all the other pictures of its creation. I wore it today...and one of my coworkers was lugging around power paks left on hhis bus. Traded hat for this bag of goodies. Not bad for a hat I wore once. The guy that got the hat...fits him perfectly.

Making myself another one.....only took 2 days last time...I'll be wearing it by Monday.

Sometimes...you just need soap

This was my fave barrette. Then when it broke....I put it on the console to remember to take it in the house. It fell out of it and under the passenger seat. Haha and of course I promptly forgot it. Found it 20 mins ago....totally unrecognizable...mud, silt, dirt, time, heat....and it was basically a lost. I washed it in the washer....20 min cycle, nothing. soaked it in dishsoap...20 mins, nada. Was thinking about using bleach. Then I remembered something profound....composition of most detergents work by. Stripping oils and grease and any dirt attached to it. Soap works by adding fat...emulsifying the fat into soil...lifts it completely. So i took an old face brush, and some dove sensitive...water...and 5 seconds later....spotless. i didnt even use the amount i use to clean my face and its spotless.

Sometimes you just need soap. Every day, ordinarary soap...or shampoo. Soap works best on body oils, protein based stains, etc. Then if i felt the need to go back over it with something stronger...still can. Shampoos do the same thing with the added bonus of being about to remove petroleum. The soap i use...no worrys of soap scum either...my soap is "soap free" but it still worked. Hey! 

New Purpose for Old Treasures

Got a jewelry box full of treasures that have issues? A broken clasp? A missing gem in one earring...but not the other, Here's one earring....wheres the other one? Fave broach worn so much the closure broke off? So here you end up with a treasure chest of jewelry you can no longer wear....what to do?

Repurpose them. Get your self some needle nose pliers, jump rings, standard finding, pick a time when you have time...uninterrupted, non rushed time. Each piece can usually be fixed in less than 5 mins....unless theres glue used, then you add the drying time and your old treasures suddenly have new life.

Butterfly Clip

What to do with a broken broach or necklace? Turn it into hair accessories. This one, was a butterfly broach, given to me for my birthday a few years back....and the pin attachment broke off. But since the type of metal its made of...glue will not stick...my only option would have been to solder it back on...my soldering gun is currently misplaced. However...yarn thru the figuree in 2 inconspicuous spots...tie it to a hairclip....then glue the yarn itself to the clip....finished. Glue will stick to a clip...later, I'm gonna line the inside to the clip with a piece of satin ribbon. I even left a little of the yarn as a streamer to tie into a bow. Give it a try.

Mohawk ...day 2

I love hair styles that gives me 7 or 8 style options while still being the same style. So today...I shrunk it. Toomorrow I may wear it braided, twisted, stretched, curled, back in the pompadour,  strait...whatever.

Gotta love a style that's versatile.
