LOTD: for next week

I detangled....and throughly enjoyed the feel of my loose hair on my fingers now that I have cut off my nails, then as you can see...I braided the hair up. Not even a fancy pattern just a basic set of braids. Then for work...I covered it up with one of my favorite geles. I didn't want all that dust and silt stuck in my braids. So it will be like this for a week...if I'm lucky I will make it to 2 weeks.

LOTD: 4-hawk

The 4-hawk...otherwise known as mohawk ponytails. Great if you have too much hair for a mohawk, or a fro-hawk, not willing to cut it for a look....and not enough hair for a blackhawk. Also I dislike bobbi pins and hair pins...when they hold well enough to secure the hair...scalp hurts. When I put them in in a fashion that doesn't hurt my scalp...they pop out. This was my solution for a similar look.

I divided the hair in 4 sections....ear to ear...then each of those sections were split across. Starting at he back each section was put into a center ponytail with a snag free band. Then they were adjusted by pulling forward or pushing backward towards the other ponytails.

Total time...7 mins. Give it a try.  Heres a vid to make it extra easy to try it out:

Todays patient: Euro Pro Iron

My moms favorite iron. When she got it, she issued one directive...dont touch this iron. Everyone here except one, respects the "not yours, dont touch" rule. That one ...dropped it. Mom asked me to "make an attempt to fix it". Did she forget who I am? Attempt? Haha. Its fixed...with an acrylic bridge that's stronger than the plastic the iron itself is made of. The only thing needed is a little white paint and no one will ever know it had a boo boo. The paint will come Monday...after its had a chance to cure completely...or it will just go without...thats. up to Mom.

Fave paint brushes restored

It is said...a paint brush is only as good as its maintenance. Well...these have been maintained for over 10 years. The pouncer....the paint on the handle has completely flaked off and the raw wood...is splintering my hand.  The sable #5...same issue with the paint...worse...it feels hard on my skin like I'm holding a needle. The liner....well...its getting a maskeover just to keep my matching set....a matched set.

So first I took duct tape...wraped it around the paint brush. And used the back of a pair of scissors to rub the areas where the flaking was extreme. I peeled the duct tape off...sanded the handles smooth. I then coated the handles with

a coat of clear polyurethane water based paint...using a napkin at the top and then I dipped them in the paint---which was easier than trying to use the paint brush and restoring it at the same time. Let them dry by standing them in a brush holder or use a tape roll to balance it until dry.

Taking a soft comfy yarn like a superwash wool or your fave acrylic blend....hold the start of the yarn with the thumb...wind tightly a couple of times...then holding the lead yarn out of the way...paint the handle with a line of paint, instead of glue as it will dry slow allowing you to complete the project without having to reapply glue. Continue wraping the yarn...completely enclosing the end and continuing until entire handle is wrapped. About an inch from the end... dip, or apply the paint to all sides of the exposed handle...finish wraping.  When the end is reached, wrap the yarn towards the top a few rounds. Anchor with a clip or rubber band and let dry for at least an hour. At this point, for extra security....you can apply nail glue in drops along the wraps.

When dry, carefully trim the loose end and apply a drop of glue and smooth the end into the yarn wraps. At this point....you can dip the wrapped handle into the gloss and let dry again or just leave it as is....making sure the end strand is very secure.

Stranded headband...redesigned.

Fave stranded headband popped one of its strands...I repurposed it with a "knot" that slides across the headband to any location on it.

Don't throw it away...redesign it!

Eyeglass surgery

Using a kiss nail kit, I repaired moms glasses. I've used this stuff over the years to fix plastic items, a couple of. Hearing aids, jewelry, etc. This is the first time I used it to fix metal...seems to be working out well. By the time there's an issue, moms new glasses will be ready. That being said...I did the same thing on my last left hearing aid and instead of lasting a few days, it lasted a few years, so its now my back up hearing aid...my audioologist was very impressed when he went to fix it...said the stuff he uses wouldn't hold it any better and the most he would do is blend the color. So I use this method as needed for various things. If you try this...make sure to open a window or two.
