My look of the day for the first snow...and combatting sensory issues.

Pink long sleeve tee, over maroon I was already wearing, pink powerpuff
gloves cuz Buttercup is my fave, black jeans, purple python boots.
Gradient black/gray silk scarf.

Do you have sensory issues and cold days like today feel like
torture....here's a few tricks. Lets start with hands...do someone
else's hand soap or perfume cause you to itch, and break out when it's
cold?...wear gloves...and under my gloves, you can't tell I have on some
vinyl gloves too. This will also protect you from any germy doorknobs
you happen to touch.

Shirts...tees are best when there are no seams and no tags. Winter
tees..prep them in summer...turn them inside out and either sew or glue
a thin 1/2 inch strip of fleece over the seams. If you gotta wear
uniforms...esspecially company issued and they won't let you wear your
protective tees...ask the boss...or principal if it's a school ...if you
can buy the uniform and tell them why. They can't fire you...cuz it's
against the law and they can't stop you from altering the inside of what
is now your property. I do this with the shoulder, the neck, the
sleeves, the side...and on really rare occasions, the bottom. Try not to
wear anything to close fitting. If you are allergic to elastic cover the
bands and straps with fleece too...or wear cami tops and tanks you wore
as summer tops as bras in the winter. I wear my exercise tops...they
have enough support to hold everything where it should be.

The waist of pants, the inside seams...where ever it's gonna touch my
skin. You can use cotton in summer...fleece is soft and warm for winter.
Fleece is also a better buffer but hard to sew thru by hand...but it's
worth not itching for hours.

Socks...this is a tricky area...either wear hand knit socks cuz they
don't have a seam over the toe. Otherwise...wear a thin pair of cotton
socks inside out and you can put your heavy winter socks over those. If
you are really sensitive to the seam...fleece it. If you can find some
socks without the seam...use those.

This brings me to coats...usually it's going over layers and isn't a
proble...save one...the pockets. I don't know what's up with the
material they use for making pockets...but on days like today...feels
like scratchy sand paper against the skin. Replace the entire pocket
with fleece or ultra suede...make sure your seams are on inside so they
are smooth...and since you are replacing the pocket...make sure it's big
enough for your hands to fit in twice and deep enough that your hands
don't really come in contact with the edge unless you want them too.

Skin care...crisco shortenting...just a dap smoothed in after you use
your lotion. This seals in your moisture which keeps away that dry
overly sensitive skin.

For drivers...make sure your driving glasses are plastic...or plastic
coated where it touches your skin. I can't tell you how many days this
has helped me...also, even if not tinted dark, get the highest uv
protection you can on the driving glasses.

Avoid hard fabrics...like leather, felt, rayons, linen, certain cottons,
and bulky wool. Wear soft cottons, soft wool...lamswool is best...no
itch, silk, acrylic, polyester, etc.

Keep hair covered and neat when uncovered with this trick...using your
favorite older scarves or go to the hair store and buy some hair
bandanas...poly satin or silk...sew them to inside of you hats. No lint
on the hair, no snag from the hat. I also do this with those straw hats
in summer time.

Bedtime, don't bother to fleece seams of pajamas and night wear...just turn them inside out ...no seams to touch you that way. Turning teeshirts inside out is a quick fix as well. Buy the highest thread count you can find. Flannel sheets are good to if a folds or slacks bothers you. Also sprinkle baby powder on or under your sheets for added comfort.

Hope this helps...it's helped me.
