Hubcabs

Good thing hubcabs are purely decorative cuz when I came to the car
after work I noticed this. Large crack and scratches on right front
hubcab. Son says far as he knows he didn't do it...far as I know I
didn't do it...I don't even know if it happened today, last week, before
I bought the car...etc. All I know is...today is when I noticed it.

Freestyle Beads...

But I've misplaced my beader so it's taking a long time. No braids or
twist....just beads.

Round the world twist out...

Braid or twist your hair in the following pattern...around your head,
(known as an around the world pattern). Start at the face, end in the
center of scalp...either leave the final twist to hang or wrap it around
a roller....do this while it is damp or while dry and dip in water. Your
choice. You can actually part or freestyle, keep in mine that the
smaller the twist, the smaller the resulting curls. Let dry
completely...overnight is how I usually do mine.

To style, unravel from the center out using fingers only. Using your
fingers...go thru hair in all directions, then direct hair into the
finished style desired.

I do this kind of twist out when I am short on time as one continuous
twist around the world takes about 10 mins where as individual sections
and single twists take nearly an hour. Give it a try.

Family Feet

A different kind of sock chart. This chart is a quick reference for
every foot in the family...those that cooperated anyway. The chart has
shoe size...not very helpful but those that didn't cooperate more than
that...I can look up a general measurement. Because I know I tend to
switch up I've also included measurements from to to heel and heel to
toe start. I included the foot circumference, toe measurements, ankle
depth from bone to heel...it's easier to customize the turn of the heel
if you know someone has a short ankle or a deep one, and cuff
circumference. Then I included notations for each individual...like if
they prefer cuffs, need a wider or round toe, or extra length becuz of
height, etc.

That way...I don't have to worry about making the same person socks that
differ in size. Each pair can be consistent now. This also makes it
easier to customized based on yarn type. So even if I use a worsted
yarn, or bulky weight....long as it fits the measurement chart...socks
will fit. Gonna make one for sweaters too.

Make one for yourself today.

Completely dry

And still looking great! However...feels a bit oily...mayo is primarily
olive oil so I should have expected that. If the oily feel doesn't go
away on it's own....I'm gonna towel it....rerinse and reshake. But it
looks amazing.

I love my curls!

Which is a good thing cuz after a mayo~brown sugar wash....they are
BACK! The gray streak looks silver and very shiny, the stringy sections
from over straining with a flat iron are standing up in defy the gravity
glory saying "hey there...how ya doing!?!" and my scalp feels amazing!
Of course now it's long enough that I can do what ever I want with
it...including shrinking my curls to get the effect in the pic. Yay!
This is how my hair is supposed to be. Lets hope it still looks like
this when it's finished drying.

Topaz Pants

This is a pattern I designed circa 1995 for quilted stretch pants for my
youngest daughter who was inbetween sizes at the time. And I failed to
write what size the pants are on the pattern. She was 7 at the time. But
she was taller than a 7 and shorter than an 8 and clothes were either
too big and long...or fit right everywhere but too short in the legs. I
had completely forgot about that till I cam across the pattern.

Completed Face

Completed Face

As I walk the human race, I keep a visual and written record of my
pace.

I read, I write, I draw--but I refuse to draw a completed face.

I am not complete as a person so until I am,
I will not walk about saying "I'm perfect like I am."

When God is thru with me, I shall be pure as gold,
But on that day, my walk shall end in this human race.
So therefore I am not, yet, a completed face.

So I shall leave you with this thought, don't strive to be perfect--all
perfect people live in heaven. Try to be the best you, you can be, and
maybe one day in Heaven above -- you can meet the completed ME.

God made me the way I am. Said follow my rules and lead a happy life. If
you do, you will see that your life will be trouble-free with no
strife.

So as you walk the human race, keep trying for a completed face.

Refracted light values

All day long folks have been saying "you feel ok?" my first thought was
"am I wearing green? No. Then what's that about?" I get home and I look
in the mirror ready to wash the city grime off my face and happen to
noticed my skin looked like I had been in the sun all day...not in the
good way. Darker. So I washed my face like normal....and of course
couldn't figure out what went wrong with my skin from the time I woke up
till now.

Then as usual...I changed clothes...out of the winter gear to the around
the house wear...and my skin was back to glowing...heathy looking light
reflecting. Seems the whole problem was the refracted light values of
this sweater I had on. White reflects, black refracts, here I am in a
striped black, white, brown, red sweater. Bad move on my part.

As you can see in the pics...I put the sweater back on just to take the
pic....it's like the dark colors aged my face and revealed lines. The
darkness from earlier isn't as bad as I'm sitting right in front of a
light with a freshly washed face. The second pic...a light color...like
I usually wear...and 10 years are gone from my skin. I will never wear
that sweater again. Usually I have the problem whenever I wear any shade
of green but apparently it happens with a busy stripe too.

Kaya's Coat of Many Colors

My coat of many colors, designed by me, made from red heart rag doll in
the following colors: skip, pinky, punch, hop, jump, wow and sorbet
which is to say blues, pinks, purple, yellows, reds, greenish mix, beige
combo. this yarn is feltable, so when i lose the extra weight....i'm
gonna felt it down.
===========
When it was time to felt...I fell asleep and it shrank way past my size
and the Kaya coat became the Maya coat. Maya has since out grown it.

The swatches are all the colors the ragdoll yarn came in...the only
color I didn't use was Oceania and that is becuz the store didn't have
it.

I don't remember if I blogged this or not...I had put it on
facebook...but to be sure...now it's blogged.

Hand washed socks...

And hang like this...on a pants hanger. Comes in handy for washing
socks...and for quick drying single hand washables. This is hanging
right over the front of the heater...which speeds things along. Dry by
morning. You can also hang in shower rod, laundry rack, or towel rack.
Just place a few paper towels or news papers on the floor to catch the
extra water.

Butterfly Pouch

(Follow up on "Twins no more") I chose a bright pretty purple
butterfly...ya know...cuz I am one. But when I take a pick of
it....doesn't show purple. Guess the light just isn't in the mood to
cooperate with me today. I will take another pic in the sunlight and see
if I get better results. Anyway this is what it looks like now.

Sock darning 101...

Store bought socks fall apart really easy....stitching them back
together can be a bit tricky. First thing...use a super fine sock yarn
like fortissma and reweave on the outside...may look crappy ...inside
your shoe where no one is gonna see it...but it will be comfortable cuz
no stitching will rub against your skin. Infact when you turn it
over...unless you used a different color like I did...it blends
completely in. Try it.

It's the Quirky Kay show!!! Haha

I call this braid pattern the Quirky Kay cuz this is what happens when
you can't sleep at one in the morning and your big idea of a relaxing
activity is "think I'll braid my hair" and so you do. No planning went
into this style so I ended up with a bunch of techniques vying for
attention. However, with my personality...works for me. I got everything
in it...fishbones, braid the bridge, connect 4's, stagger starts, etc. I
even got the hang gang in the back.

I gottta admit...it was relaxing enough to make me sleepy so I braided
in some "place markers"...two of which I didn't even use, haha and
finished this after noon.

The braid technique itself was floater style. I let the hair do all the
work and the braids are flaoting on top of the scalp. Won't unravel and
there's no pulling...so I can wear it for a few weeks without
discomfort.

Anyway...time to tie it with a scarf so it will be smooth when I leave
for work tomorrow and I have laundry to do. Blog ya later!

Braiding hair. Almost there!....will finish tomorrow.

...but tired so...braided in a few place holders...so I can go to sleep
without worrying about having to part the sections all over again. I was
gonna do fishbones but that requires more planning than "think I'll
braid my hair" haha it also requires a much earlier starting time...like
3pm instead of 1am.

Braiding the bridge!

Lets face it...we all love braids...but we don't love it when genetics
interfere with the desired end result. To that end...there is a
technique I use when braiding my hair that I'd thought I'd share. It's called "braiding the bridge" In
quilting, there's a method called "stitch in the ditch" it's a method of
getting the pieces attached without the stitching being seen.

In braiding it's called "braiding the bridge" over the void. It's not
troubled water that's the problem here...it's my hairline. I inheirted
this silliness but it doesn't mean I have to succumb to it. I have a
prominent windows peak and two natural parts...the hair "goes in" where
those parts are...as you can see on the one side of my head...the hairline
is not even. For braids that start at the hairline....the uneven
hairline is great. For braids that edge the hairline....it's a bad
thang...unless you know how to braid a bridge. You part the hair....and
continue the part on the other side of the "gap", anchor the remaining
hair out of the way firmly....now when you start your braid
(lightly...let the hair do the work...no unnecessary pulling) and you
come to the gap...continue braiding as if there were hair there...the
pickups here will be imaginary. This insures the braid stays flat, 'baby
hair' is incorporated, and your pickup across the gap will be in the
proper location....not pulling forward...not stressed back. The bridge
is now complete. Unless you physically touch or wiggle the braid...you
shouldn't be able to tell it's a bridge. The one rule is this...the hair
being braided must be longer than the gap it's bridging...otherwise it
can unravel. If you have an uneven hairline or thinning spots...give it
a try.

The ice cream socks revisited!

Warm as cocoa...pretty as a sundae. Gonna make another pair with newer
yarn so I don't have to blend and reblend stops and starts. Today I wore
them in the weather...same weather I've been wearing 2 socks in...they
are very warm. Off to make another pair. :^D

Twins no more!

Out matching hip pouches no no longer match. Imagine...unzipping your
hip pouch and not recognizing anything in it...usually I just say, "Mom,
I have your pouch!" on the flip side...when she does that with
mine...she goes thru it...hold stuff up and say, "why you carry this in
your purse...what's that for?" once may be aciddental but after a
month...you begin to suspect it's not an accident.

Well, I had finished the blue blast and too sleepy to start a new knit
project so I did this. The butterfly was made from a butterfly shaped
candle....I dropped the paint right on it...and then used it as a
stamp. Clean up...incredibly easy...paint doesn't stick to wax. So
paper towel, two seconds, done.

Now that it is dry...I can fine tune the design a bit. Oh and need to
mention..this paint glows in the dark...which will come in handy if I
need to find it in the dark.
